Pool Cage Frame Repair โ€” What We Fix

The aluminum frame is the skeleton of your pool enclosure. Every screen panel, every door, every arch section depends on the structural integrity of the frame below it. When frame components fail โ€” whether from storm impact, corrosion, age-related fatigue, or physical force โ€” the whole enclosure becomes compromised, not just the affected section.

Frame repair is more technically demanding than rescreening because it requires matching original aluminum profiles, properly cutting and joining new members, and ensuring the repaired section has the same structural stiffness as the surrounding cage. An improperly repaired frame section will flex, pop screens out repeatedly, or fail again in the next major storm.

๐ŸŒ€ Storm Damage Assessment

After any tropical storm or hurricane, even if your enclosure looks okay, we recommend a frame inspection. Aluminum cage frames can suffer micro-fractures, connector deformation, and base plate shifting that aren't visible from the outside but compromise the structure's ability to handle the next event. Early detection saves you from a much larger repair bill later.

Types of Frame Damage We Repair

Bent or bowed uprights โ€” Vertical posts that have bowed inward or outward from wind load, impact, or gradual corrosion at the base. We assess whether straightening is appropriate or whether replacement is needed based on the degree of deformation.

Collapsed roof section โ€” The overhead framing on a pool cage takes the highest wind load. Sections that have partially collapsed from a debris strike or sustained wind pressure need to be re-cut and rejoined. This is the most complex frame repair we do.

Broken spline channel โ€” The spline groove is the recessed channel in each frame member that the rubber spline presses into. When this channel cracks or deteriorates, spline no longer stays seated and screen panels pop out. Damaged spline channel sections require member replacement, not just spline replacement.

Corroded base connectors โ€” The connectors and anchor points at the base of vertical uprights are the most corrosion-prone components on a South Florida pool cage. Salt air, standing moisture from irrigation and rain, and proximity to pool chemicals all accelerate corrosion at ground level. We replace deteriorated base hardware with new galvanized or powder-coated connectors to stop the corrosion cycle.

Cross member separation โ€” Horizontal cross members connecting vertical posts can separate at their joints from repeated wind flex. Re-securing or replacing these members restores rigidity to the affected wall section.

Why Alloy Matters in South Florida

Broward County is in the HVHZ โ€” the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone โ€” which carries its own standards for building materials in wind-resistant construction. Pool cages in this zone should use 6063-T5 aluminum alloy, which has the right balance of strength and corrosion resistance for coastal South Florida. Some lower-cost repair operators use whatever aluminum they have on hand, which may be a different alloy that oxidizes faster or has lower tensile strength. We specify 6063-T5 for all frame repairs.
