Sagging, dragging, or broken pool screen door? We fix hinges, latches, closers, frames, and door screens on all pool enclosure door types โ usually in a single visit.
The screen door is the most frequently used and most frequently damaged component on a pool enclosure. Unlike a fixed screen panel, the door experiences daily use โ hundreds of open-and-close cycles per year โ plus the same UV, humidity, and storm exposure as the rest of the cage. Over time, every moving part eventually needs attention.
The good news is that most pool screen door problems are completely fixable without replacing the entire door frame. In many cases, a door that's been dragging on the ground, refusing to latch, or popping open on its own can be corrected in under an hour.
Florida law (F.S. 515.29) requires pool barriers with self-closing, self-latching mechanisms for residential pools with direct access from the home. If your pool enclosure door doesn't latch reliably or the self-closing spring is broken, this is both a safety issue and a code compliance matter. We carry and install code-compliant latch hardware for all enclosure door types.
Sagging door (bottom drags on the deck) โ The most common issue. Caused by hinge failure, frame corner joint separation, or door warp from heat cycling. The fix depends on the underlying cause โ a hinge swap is quick, but a frame rebuild takes longer. We diagnose on-site before quoting.
Door won't latch or stay closed โ Latch strike misalignment, worn latch mechanism, or door frame distortion. If the latch bolt and strike plate are more than about 1/4" out of alignment, the latch will stop catching reliably. We realign or replace the hardware as needed.
Self-closer not working โ Pneumatic or spring closers fail after a few years of South Florida UV and moisture exposure. We stock replacement closers for all standard pool door sizes and can replace them quickly.
Torn or pulled-loose door screen โ The door screen takes more abuse than panel screens because it's constantly in motion. Torn mesh and popped-out spline on door panels are very common. We replace the door screen using the same material as your cage panels for a matched appearance.
Bent or warped door frame โ A door frame that's been hit, twisted by a storm, or gradually deformed can't seal properly even with new hardware. In these cases, the frame needs to be rebuilt or replaced. We carry standard aluminum door frames for all common pool enclosure configurations.
Single doors are the most common โ one door panel on a standard 36" or 48" opening. Double doors are found on larger enclosures, particularly in Weston and some Davie properties, where wider furniture or equipment access is needed. Both configurations use essentially the same hardware systems, but double doors have an astragal (center post) to address and both door panels need to be aligned to meet properly at the center.
Replace door screen panels at the same time as your full cage rescreen for a seamless finish.
If the door opening frame is bent or the header has shifted, we repair the structural issue first.
Door frames are often the first area to show oxidation. Treat the full frame while we're on site.
